How to connect WhatsApp and Telegram to OpenBot with MCP
Let your OpenBot agent read and reply on WhatsApp and Telegram, and find the tools on the first try.
Before you ask your agent (paste this in the agent's instructions or skill)
The tools are
felku_*. In OpenBot they show up under the name you gave the server: if you call the server Felku, they aretools.Felku.felku_*. To read messages, callfelku_read_new_messages. The agent only gets chats from the contact list; an empty list means only your own number on WhatsApp and nothing on Telegram. Groups don't arrive infelku_read_new_messages; a group the owner enabled is read withfelku_read_group_messages. Send the previousnext_cursorasafter, or you'll get the same messages again.
In our test, without that paragraph, the agent took about 15 tries to find out how to call the tools.
Step by step
Connect WhatsApp or Telegram in the Felku dashboard and add the people the agent may talk to to your
contact list. Messages from anyone else are dropped on arrival.
Connect OpenBot to Felku, in one of the two ways below. The name you give the server in OpenBot becomes the
prefix of the tools.
With a key
Create a key under Agents and keys. For an agent that only reads and summarizes, keep only the reading
boxes checked (the default): Read messages and See status and limits on, Send and act off. It can read and can't send. The key starts with fkc_ and is shown once.
In OpenBot, add a remote MCP server with the URL
https://mcp.felku.com.br/mcpand the header
Authorization: Bearer <your key>.
Then
Paste the paragraph above into the agent's instructions or skill.
Ask the agent: "show my Felku connection status". It should call
felku_get_connection_status.
What the agent can and can't do
It only reads and replies to contacts on your list, in one-to-one chats.
With a read-only key, it can't send at all. We tested reading from OpenBot; sending from OpenBot hasn't been
tested yet.
Every send has limits on the server, the same on every plan: a few messages an hour on a newly connected number,
at most 3 first messages a day (fewer if you choose), and a pause if the connection starts failing.
The WhatsApp connection is unofficial (a linked device, like WhatsApp Web). WhatsApp can restrict a number at any
time; the limits lower that risk, they don't remove it. Use a spare number.
